To truly define these two ways of observing and absorbing information we each must consider our own perspective. Sharing the definitions that I have come to through meditative contemplation can give a good platform for One's own deduction, yet to truly become part of an integral foundation the truth must come from within. For this has been shown to me as how the mind operates anyways, yet if we do not make the coagulation of experience into belief conscious then we perpetuate a dependence on the subconscious to do so for us. The subconscious, as DNA and the field of energy that permeates all life called the "Akashic Record", is forever watching, eternally maintaining a point of reference as to what awareness is encountering.
I say eternally as in this moment there feels to be no beginning nor end to this spectrum of information. The further I go into my past the more I find fragmented images, feelings, and content that is my life and yet something else. There is this sense of a endless process, where even at inception of creation there is no definable point where no thing comes before. Immediately my sense of the future appears as the same and there is no delusion about life or death, there is simply no way of actually finding a beginning or end to the awareness of such.
Coming back into this moment my awareness expands into my surroundings. The crowing of birds, the sound of cars hovering past, a faint scent of smoke, my body vibrating with the energy of my daily energy practice. There also seems to be no real border as to where I begin and end, my awareness seems to spill forth from sensation into possibility. All of life is certainly infinite, even in it's most transient and fleeting state.
This expansive perception in all known directions is a quality brought about by devotion to the practice of relation. Perhaps the process has been integrated into my existence by forces outside my own will, by a greater destiny of which I discover only as such unfolds. All I truly know is that when possibility is considered, and I let go of my definitions and the associations what a situation, person, or things means to me, the world seems to open up. Everything becomes luminous with potential, the mystery of Being fills me with a subtle excitement, and a peace is brought forth that seems boundless.
The act of relation was something that over a period of time I just began doing. My interest in how other people saw the world drew me into considering the possibilities, recognizing that perhaps I do not truly "know" that which is outside my own Being. Making a study of life appears as an inevitable quality of who I am and only through this study has it been revealed why. For now, let's save the why's for later.
When introduced to the works of Eckhart Tolle and "The Power of Now" the idea of relation struck me as vastly important. I sought the definition in a variety of places, as the one suggested by the cd's a friend gave me of his didn't feel complete at the time. Eventually I came to the theory of relativity, consideration of the word "relationship", more and more the realization of exactly how potent this action and quality can be grew.
Before going any deeper let me share the definition I have found through all of this introspection. The first step to relation is to accept that all is possibility when it comes to the external content. We can never truly know a thing, we can only experience it through our own perception, or we can consider that within this vast unknowing are certain potentials. The mind seems to have an innate ability from this perspective to abstract these potentials, and thus we can begin to see through the eyes of another.
To relate is to accept that all is possibility and then to consider the point of view of that which we are relating to. This cannot be done without some level of compassion, for how can we truly see from a point outside our own Being while holding onto our judgements of such? We have to let go completely in order to fully grasp the feeling of which the external presents. The mind naturally picks an array of the highest potentials, builds a deeper sense of compassion, and then checks all of our own experience for any sort of reason that is not immediately apparent.
In relation we avoid that which is identification, we use a set of circumstances beyond our own direct experience. Now of course to consider possibility we are tapping into the higher extent of what we have been subject to in our life. Not only can we abstract the potential perspective from the content of all we have observed wether conscious or not, but we can also use the reference of DNA, all the information of all time as to what DNA has directly witnessed.
So when we identify we have this unchanging resolve as to what is true, what is right or wrong. We fit the external into our view and therefore contain it within a finite set of definitions, we lose possibility, we lose the natural sense of compassion. This is the separation that we are now resolving, certainly why the topic seems important enough to delve into here and now.
Relation is to me exactly what Nature has been working towards creating, and in the human mind is where this quality and ability has arisen. We are in this way Nature's greatest gift to It's Self. In the original design is of course this seed of potential, yet truly we transcend such through the proper application of relation. We can see an obstacle as opportunity, also we can derive truth from another's experience and skip any real need to find it out for ourselves. We can abstract truth from possibility, and in this way we can make consistent progress without having for one moment create new lessons associated with the realization of how a quality can be resolved.
The real question this inspires within is are we really using this ability? Looking all around the potential is outstanding, nearly overwhelming if I really let it all in. What could we discover if we started looking through the eyes of our challenges? Perhaps Nature would reveal the secrets of our collective purpose, or in other words, perhaps the We that IS Nature would transcend our original design and create a new program.
This seems to be the goal of Nature, to expand and discover the Self, to create expressions of Love, and to resole to the highest quality, the highest vibrational state of existence. If we are to accept each other, to accept and Love the situation we are in for the potential that lays just slightly below the surface, relation is the key ingredient. We find the truth of relativity, that all is connected, all is One, and therefore there is a chance to achieve harmony on all levels.
My prayer for today is that we may each find the power and truth of relation in the most gentle yet thorough way. That we may see a clear path to living as a pure reflection of Love. That through looking within to see the external world in a new way we can each become an agent of Nature, unified, compassionate, and determined to live as an example of our highest way of interpreting the external.
Blessed Be,
Nathan
